Reviews on Thorsteinn‘s paintings:
In 2000 one of Thorsteinn‘s paintings was among five Icelandic paintings sent to the Winsor & Newton Millenium Painting Competition following a preliminary competition in Iceland. Thorsteinn‘s works entered the finals in Winsor & Newton‘s exhibition in London, Stockholm and New York.
Winsor & Newton is one of the world‘s major providers of art materials.
„This is an abstract expressionist painting, influenced by nature, especially in relation to the sharp borderlines between heat, cold and the clear, bright Icelandic nature. The painting has no title, opening up the opportunity for each and everyone to make their own interpretation.“
From the Winsor & Newton 2000 Book of the Millennium Painting Competition.
Review from Thorsteinn‘s exhibition at Gallery Fold 2002
„He not only draws from his own world of experience as an architect, but also from the world of painting from the last decades. The extrovert intuition, the poetic and unformal painting.“
„In his work Thorsteinn approaches these inner arteries of painting, utilising the transparency of colour, his advanced use of colour processing and his rhythmic formalism.“
Bragi Ásgeirsson, Morgunblaðið May 2000.
